Grants, discounts and financial help with keeping warm

There is financial help available if you are planning to make energy saving improvements to your home.

Summary of the schemes

  • Richmond's Home Insulation Scheme - discounted rates available to all residents and free to those in receipt of certain benefits and to those aged 70 or above (see below).
  • Warm Front - for people of any age, in receipt of certain benefits (see below).
  • Coldbusters - for people on certain benefits, aged 60 or over (see below).

Richmond's Home Insulation Scheme

Richmond Council is offering discount loft and cavity wall insulation to all residents in the borough and will provide this for free to those in receipt of certain benefits and to those aged 70 or above.

Warm Front

This grant is for people of any age, in receipt of certain benefits. If you own your home, or rent it from a private landlord, you may be able to claim a grant for insulation and heating improvements of up to £3,500 (except where oil central heating is installed or repaired where a maximum grant of £6,000 is available). Coldbusters

If you receive certain benefits, and are aged 60 or over, you may be eligible for a Coldbusters Grant. A locally funded grant for homeowners and private tenants. This grant provides: loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, heating improvements and draught-proofing. Eligibility is via the receipt of a qualifying benefit, or if aged over 60 via a means test assessment. To make an application or get further details please call freephone 0800 358 6668.
