Resettlement
We do not accept self referrals at this time. If you feel you may need support you must first speak to your housing officer who can refer you.
The resettlement team works to provide a comprehensive needs-led service to vulnerable people in the community aiming to provide the necessary tools to establish and maintain their social housing tenancy. The team aims to:
- Promote independence
- Assist with the practical aspects of setting up a new home
- Provide emotional support
- Act as an advocate
- Work alongside other agencies
- Provide a service sensitive to diverse needs
The team comprises a principal officer and experienced officers specializing in working with young persons and other groups of vulnerable people such as:
- People with mental health problems
- Learning difficulties
- Physical or sensory difficulties
- Drug, alcohol or substance misuse problems
- Young single people (16/17 years old)
- Teenage parents (16-19 years old)
- Elderly people
- Those at risk of domestic abuse
- Ex-offenders
- With a terminal illness
- Homeless families with support needs
The team can help with:
- Welfare benefits advice
- Budgeting advice
- Act as an advocate
- Accompany to property viewing and tenancy signing
- Accessing furniture, essential household items and white goods
- Set up utilities accounts (gas, electricity, water, TV license)
- Accessing funds from local charities and the Social Fund
- Arrange removals
- Help register with a GP
- Completing forms
- Welfare visits at home
- Referral to other agencies e.g. tenancy support services
- Jointly working with other agencies
The team is unable to help with:
- Personal care, decorating or gardening
