Statement of Community Involvement

The Council has always tried to get people involved in the process of developing planning policy and planning applications by widely publicising development proposals and seeking views when policies are being drafted. The new Local Development Framework process places greater emphasis on early consultation in order to reach consensus on key issues at an early stage.

The Statement of Community Involvement is the three-year consultation strategy for informing, consulting and feeding back to the community on the production of the Local Development Framework and in relation to planning applications.

The Statement of Community Involvement(pdf, 773KB) was adopted on 9th June 2006. The adopted version incorporates the recommendations of the Inspector who tested the document against criteria set out in national guidelines. See the Inspector's report and Appendix(pdf, 732KB).

Addendum (April 2009)

As a result of changes to the Local Development Framework process, an addendum to the Statement of Community Involvement has been issued. This explains how consultation arrangements will be organised for future plan stages, until the Statement of Community Involvement will be reviewed. See the Addendum to the Statement of Community Involvement(pdf, 32KB).
