Comprehensive Performance Assessment
From 2002 to 2008 The Audit Commission undertook Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA), an annual assessment of the performance of councils and the services they provide for local people. A Corporate Assessment, Use of Resources and Service Assessments were brought together to give an overall performance star category alongside a direction of travel assessment.
The service assessments are Services for Children and Young People, Social Care Services for Adults, Environment, Housing, Culture and Benefits.
The scores for service assessments use performance indicator results, including Best Value Performance Indicators, and results of service inspections.
The Corporate Assessment was a periodic inspection looking at how well the Council manages performance and service delivery.
Since 1 April 2009 the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) has been replaced by the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).
