Twickenham Barefoot Consultation
The Future of Twickenham public event
More than 800 local residents visited and took part in Richmond Council’s Barefoot Consultation into the future of Twickenham on the 22-24 July.
Sixteen community organisations also took part in the event putting their ideas on how different areas of the town should be improved. The ‘Barefoot’ was organised to give local people the opportunity to consider the big issues that mattered to them about their local areas and set out their priorities for improvement.
Campaign groups including the Twickenham Society, Richmond United Group, Friends of Twickenham Riverside and many others used the Clarendon Hall and Civic Centre as a platform to share ideas for how their members think different areas of the town should develop in the run up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
During the three days, more than 320 different suggestions were left by visitors about what changes they would like to see. Around 260 questionnaires were completed by people of all ages, ranging from pensioners to children from the Heatham House Youth Centre.
The event was attended by leading members and senior officers of the Council. There was a variety of different opportunities for local people to have their say and set out ideas for the future of the town. The ideas generated will be taken forward to a 'Twickenham Conference' on the 30th October 2010. See the full report of the results
