Statements of Accounts and related publications

The Council’s annual accounts are published in accordance with statutory requirements that prescribe the basis on which they are prepared and audited, and the timescale within which they must be approved and published.

The Council’s financial year ends on 31 March each year and the accounts are approved in June before they are audited.  The audited accounts are published before the end of September.

As part of the audit process the accounts are open to public inspection during which the public and local electors have certain statutory rights, including those to inspect the accounts and supporting documents, and question the auditor.  This inspection period lasts for four weeks (20 working days) and is usually during the last week of July and the first three weeks of August.  Statutory notices are published in the local press in advance of this inspection and this information is also included on this web page at the appropriate time.

In addition to these rights, we are happy to receive any questions on the accounts and finances of the Council at any time of the year by email, phone or in writing. Full contact details are in page 21 of the accounts or you can email us at: accountancy@richmond.gov.uk.
