Sky Ride Local starts in Richmond upon Thames

As a summer of sport begins local cyclists are being encouraged to get on their bikes when Sky Ride Local starts in the borough on Thursday 7 June.

Sky Ride Local is a series of local community bike rides organised by British Cycling, in partnership with Richmond Council. There will be 25 free rides taking place across Richmond upon Thames, more than in any other London borough. The themed rides will cover royal parks, rugby grounds, local landmarks and much more. Friends and families of all abilities will be able to attend and the groups will be led by a British Cycling trained leader who will offer support and encouragement the whole way.

Cllr Katharine Harborne, Champion of Cycling for the borough, said: “The 50 day Olympic countdown and summer of cycling is fast approaching and what better way to get into the spirit than Sky Ride Local. I would like to encourage people who love cycling to take up this opportunity to see one of London’s most beautiful boroughs on two wheels. It’s a great way to get active, meet new people and enjoy our many cycling routes.”
