Cycling guides

The London Cycle Guides are a series of free, localised cycling guides covering Greater London. Recommended by experienced cyclists, the routes in these guides have been fully updated and checked. Each map contains:

  • A street map of your local area showing recommended routes for cycling
  • Stations with cycle parking clearly marked on the map
  • Useful information and contacts

The series is made up of 14 individual guides, with 4,000km of routes covering the whole of London. Guide 9 covers Hampton, Twickenham, Richmond and Barnes. Visit Transport for London for online Journey Planner cycle routes and to order your free free map(s).

Cycling lessons

Cycling courses for adults take place in Twickenham during spring and summer evenings. The courses cater for complete beginners who have never ridden before, those who have learned to ride but need a little more practice or confidence before riding in traffic, and those who would like to know more about riding on roads and using cycling as a method of transport. Richmond Council’s Safety Education Team also runs courses for children.
