Apply for a business parking permit

Before you start

We request payment with your application to ensure that we can process successful applications as quickly as possible.

Should your application be refused we will let you know why. If you paid by cheque or postal order, these will not be cashed and will be destroyed securely. Your application and any proofs will also be securely deleted for your protection.

Permit types

You can either apply for transferable or vehicle specific permits. Transferable permits may be used on any employee or business owned vehicles. Vehicle specific permits may only be used on one single vehicle, which it is registered to.

If you have a Car Tax Band A vehicle, permits are free of charge. However if you apply for a free transferable Band A vehicle permit, this can only be used on Band A vehicles.

Permits are limited to a maximum of five per business (except when renewing permits immediately before expiry of an existing permit) and are valid for either 3, 6 or 12 months. Each subsequent permit will be charged at 50% more than the equivalent banded first permit.

What you will need

Before you begin your application you will need to ensure you:

  • are eligible and have read the legal guidance;
  • have proof of business address;
  • have proof to show you either own, or are authorised to drive the vehicle (if applying for a vehicle specific permit)
  • know the vehicle registration number, colour and make of the vehicle (if applying for a vehicle specific permit); and
  • have the correct payment (cheque, postal order or BACS transfer).

Accepted proofs of business address

You must include a copy of each of the following:

  • Utility bill for the business address (dated within 3 months);
  • Business rates bill for the current year; and
  • A signed letter on company headed paper, stating that the company operates as a business from that address.

Accepted proofs of vehicle ownership

You must include a copy of one of the following if applying for a vehicle specific permit only:

  • Vehicle Registration Document (include both sides)
  • Motor insurance certificate
  • Company car letter
  • Vehicle hire or lease agreement

Accepted proofs of Band A vehicle

You must include a copy of one of the following if applying for a free Band A vehicle permit only:

  • Vehicle Registration Document (include both sides)
  • DVLA website printout
  • Vehicle manufacturer handbook

Submit your application and pay

To apply you will need to download and complete an application form(pdf, 191KB) and return along with your proofs to: Parking Permits, PO Box 466, Twickenham TW1 9JT. Only send in copies of proofs as these will not be returned, they will be securely destroyed.

Paying by cheque or postal order

Please make cheques or postal orders payable to ‘LBRuT’. Bounced cheques will invalidate any permit(s) issued and will incur a £10 administration fee.

Paying by bank transfer (BACS)

Make payment with reference 'Business Parking' and your postcode to:

  • Natwest Bank
  • Sort Code: 60-22-03
  • Account number: 63459523

Receipt

Your permit letter will include a printed tear-off receipt.

What happens next

If your application is successful, you should receive your permit/s by post within 10 working days. If you have not received your permit/s after this time, you can contact us on 020 8891 1411 during office hours, or email parkingpermits@richmond.gov.uk.

When you get your new permit/s
