Street Scene enforcement
The team's responsibilities
Street Scene Enforcement Officers are responsible for helping ensure the Borough remains as clean, green, and safe as possible, and to help combat environmental crime. The team respond to complaints as well as carrying out daily inspections.
The team have power to enforce current legislation, which can mean issuing warnings, notices, fixed penalty notices, and even court proceedings against alleged offenders.
Areas that the Street Scene Enforcement Team can take enforcement action on, amongst others, include:
- Abandoned vehicles
- Commercial waste
- Domestic waste
- Dog fouling and control
- Fly posting
- Fly tipping
- Graffiti
- Littering (including urinating in the street)
- Skips
- Untaxed vehicles
The Enforcement Concordat
The Enforcement Concordat is a Code of Practice between Government and local Councils. It sets out what businesses and others affected by regulation can expect from the Council’s enforcement services. We have signed up to the Concordat and produced a Development and Street Scene Enforcement Policy.(pdf, 51KB) This means all Services provided by us are committed to good enforcement practices and procedures.
