Heatham House is a large Georgian building situated on the corner of London Road and Whitton Road in Twickenham (near the railway station). It has been a youth centre since the 1950s and is accessed by over 1000 young people per year. Achieving for Children manage the centre and all the clubs that are based here.
We are open five days a week, offering loads of activities and events that you can get involved in, such as…
Plus, space and time to record, rehearse and get support from professionals in your development as a musician or band throughout the week and you can also access support with any worries you might have or questions you need answers to around a range of topics from the Youth Enquiry Service.
Our open youth clubs often deliver chances to learn how to cook, develop existing culinary skills, and develop new recipes to experiment on your friends and family!
The Youth Participation Team are based here, they are responsible for Youth Councils and Youth Parliament.
The Heatham Campus has three buildings. The Main House, the Garage and the Venue.
The Main House has several spaces, indoor and outdoor, all aimed at providing a range of activities for young people to engage with safely and have fun, make friends try new things and be supported with the challenges they face.
Table tennis, pool, X-Box 360 and X-Box One, social area with TV, music and comfy seating.
It used to be a café! We don’t serve food anymore but we have kept the name. The cafe has a seating area, TV, music, Table football, and a piano if you are feeling musical!
A formal meeting room for youth councils, planning and anything else young people want to do formally. This room is also available for professionals to meet young people.
Not only an art room with badge making machines, screen printing, sewing machines and other arty things but also an IT Suite with free internet access.
We have a fully equipped, professional grade audio recording facility comprising of a sound-proofed control room, live Room, large programming suite and store room.
We also have 2 fully equipped rehearsal spaces for young bands and performers; the larger of these rooms is also used for holding intimate band events.
Heatham has provided excellent music facilities for over twenty years. We offer band events, rehearsal room spaces and a fully equipped music studio space. Over the years young people using our music facilities have gained and developed essential musical and life skills, which has given them the confidence in playing and organising gigs, recording their own music as an individual or as a band and being part of the music community of Heatham House.
There have been some great success stories throughout Heatham’s music history from young people using their skills to go on to further education and careers in music as well as several bands going on to play big festivals and pursue recording careers.
On Monday evenings Heatham hosts a Band Skills session where young people can come and play music individually, as groups, or form new bands assisted by a professional music producer as well as two local musicians whose previous projects include solo recordings alongside playing with the likes of Amy Winehouse.
Home to the Youth Enquiry Service (YES) and the Emotional Health Service and Off the Record. This is the first place to go as a young person if you need help, information, advice and guidance around any challenges that you may face, or even if you are just a little uncertain about something. YES can help.
This multi purpose space is equipped with both sound and lighting equipment, a large stage and multipurpose flooring.
It is used for Live Music Events, Street dance (performance and rehearsal) and for indoor sports such as Tae Kwon Do, boxing, fencing, as well as the occasional roller disco.
The large space is complimented by a fully fitted kitchen and two meeting/work rooms.
There is a modern basketball court and a 3G 5-a-side pitch (high quality synthetic grass) in the garden of Heatham House as well as plenty of grassy space to play your own team games and fun physical activities.
Our extensive grounds allow for both socialising in a relaxed environment as well as providing ample space for outdoor, non-sporting activities, events and projects.
