LGBTQI support

The Youth Service recognises that all young people are different and should have access to support or advice when they need it.

Whilst most services will be suitable for any young person, there may be a need for specific services like counselling and support around coming to terms with sexuality, or for LGBTQI-specific temporary housing or floating support.

The rationale for LGBTQI-specific services is to improve outcomes for LGBTQI young people and ensure that they receive the same entitlements and quality of service as other service users. An all-LGBTQI setting provides an environment where LGBTQI young people are free to just be themselves and to experience not being the only one, as well as offering opportunities for peer support.

Shout This Way

Shout This Way is a weekly youth club for LGBTQI people aged 13 to 19. Activities are guided by what the members want to do and the atmosphere is very informal and relaxed.

The youth club is held in a local youth centre as a 'closed session' which means we do not share the youth club with other users. This is to provide a safe and supportive environment for members. We also ask all members to let staff know in advance if they want to bring someone new to the club.
