Yet, the foundation for retrofit initiatives, such as Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), appears to lack precision. In the UK alone, 17% of emissions arise from heating and cooling buildings.

Merton Council will be hosting the South London Retrofit Skills Summit in collaboration with the South London Partnership and funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Retrofit refers to any improvement work on an existing building to improve its energy efficiency, making it easier and cheaper to heat, and replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy. Retrofitting our buildings to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy demand is going to be key to meeting our net-zero targets.
