The story of the self-portrait in the pantheon of art history is a long and illustrious one. Rembrandt, Freud, Hockney, Warhol and Perry instantly come to mind.
For the KAOS artists, painting ‘the selfie’ gives them a deeper understanding of their psychological makeup; and a way to express their internal lives. It provides an opportunity to explore and experiment, have fun and fantasize – creating a ‘selfie’ as only they can see themselves – surprising, thoughtful, and sometimes provocative.
A wide variety of works will be exhibited, including drawing and painting, paper sculpture, textiles and ceramics, collage and mixed-media.
