Arts for young people

At Orleans House Gallery we offer a number of exciting opportunities for young people, helping them build their arts based skills, work towards qualifications and gain experience in creative industries.

We regularly run unique projects with groups of young people, whether it is with individuals, schools or youth groups. These projects often target young people excluded from mainstream social and educational opportunities.

Past projects

Creative learning

  • Alternative Education programme - For young people who are outside of mainstream education or struggle within it. Students work towards qualifications (GCSE Art and Design and Arts Award) and building creative portfolios.
  • Arts Award - If you are looking to gain your Arts Award (Discover-Gold), find out how you can do this with Orleans House Gallery.

Art Forum

We are the Orleans House Gallery Art Forum! We are a small collective of young artists who are interested in art, design and heritage, and want to make decisions about the arts in our local area.

This is what we do:

  • Meet on a weekly basis at Orleans House Gallery to represent young people in our local area.
  • Make decisions and give our opinion to how the gallery should be run.
  • Develop our personal arts practice by working with professional artists, learning new skills and improving ones we already have.
  • Work towards Arts Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold).
  • Organise events and create learning material for other young people.
  • Work with the Education and Exhibition Teams at Orleans House gallery to curate exhibitions at the gallery.
  • Contribute to the Orleans House Gallery Education Blog, by writing posts, taking photographs and interviewing staff, finding out what goes on behind the scenes at the gallery.
  • Go on visits! No only do we get special access to the exhibitions and picture store at Orleans House Gallery but we visit other cultural hotspots across London.

OHG Gaming Hub

Orleans House Gallery is proud to present the OHG Gaming Hub, a new digital platform created in collaboration with young people. Play and discover imaginative games inspired by arts, heritage and exciting stories.

Find out about the hub on our education blog.

Young people with disabilities and additional needs

At Orleans we run two groups for young people with additional needs:

  • Octagon for young people aged 11-17
  • Transitions for 18+
