Join us for a week of workshops inspired by our Stables Gallery exhibition. We will explore all things aquatic from the ocean to the Thames and the creatures who live there with print, paint, 3D creations and more!

We have full and half day workshops for ages 0-17 with professional artists specialising in a variety of techniques and materials.

Monday 12 February 2 to 4pm Family Fun: River Residents

Children with their parents/carers are welcome to join artist Charlotte Cranidge for an afternoon of fun arts and crafts. Inspired by the residents of the River Thames, collaborate with your friends and family to create creatures, masks and lanterns.

Ages 4+, children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults go free.

Work with artist Jess Meehan to produce your own piece of wearable art! Engulf yourself in your own ocean scene looking at the creatures and corals that inhabit it.

Colourful Communicators

Work with artist Bella Millon and be inspired by octopuses that communicate with colour! Experiment with painting techniques to create your own colour palette and explore how you can express yourself through colour!

Wednesday 14 February 10am to 3pm Fossil Fun

Work with artist Dawn Smithers looking at what might lurk in the depths of the River Thames. Design your own ancient river creatures and use plaster to create their fossils.

Explore what is above and below the waves with artist, Mark Stacey, using mixed media to create a watery masterpiece.

Thursday 15 February 10am to 3pm Sailing on the Thames

Go back in time to the 17th century with artist Elsa Fritsch! Make a giant map and your own boat to sail along the river Thames for this fantastic journey.

Work with artist Caroline Areskog-Jones to explore mark making, prints and papercuts while looking at the fantastical aquatic creatures that reside in the sea.

Join artist Mary Herbert and celebrate the diversity of life in our rivers and oceans! Create your own watery creatures using paint, textile and recycled materials.
