My Richmond (History Explorers)

This free four session course is an exciting opportunity for families to learn together about their local community, and join us to become History Explorers!

About the course

Each week we will explore our local area at a different stage of history from the spectacular Garrick’s Temple. Inspired by the temple we will look at the history of theatre and the rich history of Richmond. The course will be a mix of storytelling and creative activities, so that everyone can find a way to engage with the course at their own level.

We will provide materials, so all you need to do is show up ready to do some creative history exploration!

Course themes

Each week will focus on a different theme; together building up a broad picture of the heritage of the local area.

  • Week 1: The Journey Begins – Theatre and Richmond from the start
  • Week 2: Super Shakespeare!
  • Week 3: History Celebrities – David Garrick’s Richmond
  • Week 4: Code-breakers & Theatre-Makers – Richmond during the World Wars
