Car sharing initiatives

There are many benefits of a car share scheme. You can reduce the amount of time and cost spent taking the children to and from school, meet other parents, and reduce local pollution.

By using your School Travel Health Check information maps (LEA schools only) you are able to identify where people are travelling from and how they are travelling.

Why not display your map at a parent information evening and encourage those living in similar areas to share their journey? This will enable you to set up a car share scheme informally with parents.

You can create a simple database with members or be more elaborate and set up a website for members to log into. A good example is goCarshare.
