We use several file types to present information. To view them you may need some additional software installed on your computer.
Adobe Acrobat PDF files
Portable Document Format (PDF) files are designed to present information in a printer-friendly version. If you are using a Windows based machine you will need a PDF reader on your computer to open these files. You can download a copy from the Adobe Acrobat web site. Or browse for a PDF reader from a list.
Adobe Acrobat accessibility
We try to optimise and improve the accessibility of PDFs found on our web site to reach the widest possible audience. Recent versions of Adobe Acrobat have improved accessibility options. However, PDFs may not be readily accessible to screen readers used by some visually impaired users. The following tools can be used to convert PDF documents into plain text or plain HTML documents.
Adobe conversion tool
Visit the Adobe Online tools website. Type in the URL of any PDF, the document will be converted into a text only HTML document.

Similarly, type in the URL of any PDF at·www.google.com, in the search box and use 'View as HTML' in the results - the document will be converted into a text only HTML document.
For converting offline documents, you can send your PDF as an e-mail attachment, a converted version of the document will be posted back to you.

Microsoft Office files
Sometimes we use file formats like Word (.doc), Excel (.xls) or Powerpoint (.ppt). If the link does not open automatically, you will need to install the appropriate viewer from the Microsoft office web site.
