Online reference and information services

We subscribe to several online reference services which can be accessed from home. Many of these, including the junior edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, may be useful for homework and school projects. These services are free and can be accessed from our Online reference and information services page.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online

The junior version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica Online features a wide range of learning resources for primary school students. Login with your Richmond Libraries' card number to access these services from home. (Type the whole number, including DXXXX, and leave no spaces). You no longer need a PIN.

BBC Children's Learning page

The BBC Children's Learning page features a collection of links of interest to children, from the BBC and the web.

BBC Schools page

Homework and revision links based upon the national curriculum.
This BBC Schools page is split into pre-school (under 5), primary (ages 4-11), and secondary (ages 11-14) sections. Each area divided into subjects, with revision activities, tests and games.

KidSpace@The Internet Public Library

The Internet Public Library is just that, a library on the Internet. KidSpace is the youth section and is divided into subject areas containing links to related websites.

Learning Alive

The Learning Alive website has over 4000 links to sites to help with projects. Go to the pathways page, then to the relevant subject area. Content based upon the national curriculum.

The Topmarks website helps you use the Internet effectively for learning. You can browse by subject or search - by keyword or by subject and age group. All sites featured are reviewed by teachers and are based on the requirements of the national curriculum..
