Local Plan / Local Development Framework

Local Plan and Local Development Framework

The Local Plan, also known as Local Development Framework (LDF), will replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) with Development Plan Documents (DPDs). The DPDs have development plan status, similar to the existing UDP, and are subject to independent examination before an Inspector. As of November 2011, all policies contained within the UDP, with the exception of the UDP proposal sites and the policy on waste collection and disposal, have been superseded.

Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is the work programme for producing the Local Plan/LDF. A LDS was agreed with the Greater London Authority and became operative in September 2011. Further information on the production of documents, which form the Local Development Plan, can be found on the timescales and progress page.

Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement is the consultation strategy for informing, consulting and feeding back to the community on the production of the Local Development Framework and in relation to planning applications. This was adopted in June 2006 and there was an Addendum in April 2009.

Core Strategy DPD (adopted)

The Core Strategy, is the strategic policy document and was adopted in April 2009. It outlines the Vision, Spatial Strategy and 20 Core Planning Policies on topics such as climate change, housing, employment and retailing.

Development Management Plan DPD (adopted)

The Development Management Plan (DMP) was adopted in November 2011. It builds on the Core Strategy and includes more detailed policies for the management of development.
