Residents in Richmond upon Thames can mark the fifty day countdown to the Olympics with a weekend of free sporting activities at six of our sports and leisure centres on 9 June and 10 June.
Adults and children will be able to try out new sports such as indoor rowing or fencing, or have a go at a well loved activity such as swimming. There will be competitions and prizes as well as the opportunity to sign up to unique membership offers.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Strategic Cabinet Member for Community, Business and Culture:
“We’re very keen to get the whole community involved in the excitement surrounding the Olympics and what better way to celebrate than to play some sport at our brilliant local centres. There’s a wide range of activities for all the family and what’s more – it’s free! I encourage residents to take advantage of this great offer and get down to your local sports and leisure centre on 9 and 10 June to try something new.”
Sports centres involved in the weekend’s festivities include Teddington Sports Centre, Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre, Shene Sports & Fitness Centre, Hampton Sports & Fitness Centre, Orleans Park Sports Centre and Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre.
