Council service delivery during the Olympics

Residents in Richmond upon Thames can be reassured that despite the disruption caused by the Olympic events, all urgent council services will aim to be delivered on the usual day.

All waste and recycling will be collected on the same days as advertised, our day centres will be open, carers will still be calling at vulnerable residents homes and meals on wheels will be delivered.

There will be some changes to library and sports centre opening times. Equally with over 400 roads affected, there will be parking disruption for residents whose cars are displaced by the Olympic events and these residents will be required to find alternative parking arrangements. All the information about changes to council services is available on our website.

Cllr Geoffrey Samuel, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources and Chairman of the Council’s Strategic Olympics Programme Board, said:

“Whilst road closures and parking suspensions will cause disruption for local residents, the Council has been working hard to ensure that core aspects of our service delivery remain unchanged.

I encourage residents to make plans in advance and look at our website to see up to date service changes so that you don’t get caught out on the day.”

More information about the Games in Richmond upon Thames can be found in our Olympics pages.
