Richmond borough to celebrate sustainability

Borough students, residents and businesses will have the opportunity to be scientists for a day during a tour of the National Physical Laboratory, (NPL) as part of the Teddington Energy Summit on Thursday 5 June.

The free event is part of the Love London Festival, which runs from 1 to 21 June. It celebrates projects and organisations that are contributing to creating a more sustainable London.

The summit has been organised by the NPL in conjunction with Richmond Council.

There will be seminars on energy efficiency and renewable technologies and guided tours will look at solar panels, fuel cells and a range of other topics.

There will be two sessions, the first for schools and colleges from 2pm to 4pm and the second for local residents and businesses from 5pm to 8pm.

Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment on Richmond Council, said:

“As London’s greenest borough we are always looking for new ways to be environmentally friendly in partnership with local organisations and the wider community.

“And I urge people to get involved in the events planned during the Love London Festival, so they can learn how to make our borough even more sustainable.”
