The eagerly awaited Primary Schools’ Football League and Hi 5 Netball festival finals, part of Richmond Council’s Competitive Edge initiative, were contested last week and produced some thrilling matches.
In an exciting boy’s football final, St Edmund’s School went head to head with Archdeacon Cambridge School. At the end of normal time scores remained 0-0, but the match was decided in extra time by a superb golden goal, which saw St Edmund’s School take the borough title.
In the girl’s football finals Archdeacon Cambridge School were too strong for Stanley School, winning the game 2-0 and becoming borough champions for the third year in a row.
Archdeacon Cambridge School also triumphed in the netball final against Trafalgar School. Both teams showed great skill, but Archdeacon came out on top by 15 goals to four.
The football league finals were held at Stanley Junior School on 5 June and the netball finals at Hampton Hill Junior School on 3 June.
The annual competitions were organised by Richmond Council’s Sports Development Team as part of the Competitive Edge programme.
