Students, teachers and employers celebrated

The efforts of students, schools and employers who have taken part in work-related learning in the last year will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony at York House on Tuesday, 1 July.

The Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Helen Lee-Parsons, will present certificates to those who have excelled in their support for the borough’s schools and announce the winner of the Employer of the Year award.

There will also be presentations from students about their experiences.

Work related learning links students with businesses and organisations to help develop employability skills.

Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education, Cllr Malcolm Eady, said:

“The work-related learning programme has been a huge success and I’m pleased those who have made such efforts will be recognised.

“Work placements, challenges and visits are invaluable in developing students’ skills and provides them with a better understanding of what is required if they want to pursue a particular vocation.

“I would like to congratulate all those who have taken part in the past year and thank all the businesses and organisations who have contributed their time, effort and enthusiasm.”

The ceremony takes place in the Salon, York House and will run from 4-6pm.
