A new affordable housing development was unveiled this week in Vanquish Close, Whitton.
The development is a joint venture between Richmond Council, Notting Hill Housing Trust, the Housing Corporation and construction company, Buglers Development.
It features 35 homes and flats, 14 of which are available under the New Build HomeBuy scheme.
The scheme allows residents to buy a share of a property and pay rent on the remainder. Gradually, you can buy further shares and eventually own your home outright.
The other 21 are for general rent and prioritised for people and families on the housing register.
Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing, Cllr Denise Carr, who officially opened the development by planting a cherry tree at the site, said:
“I am delighted with the new development.
“As a council we are committed to providing high-quality affordable homes and I hope future schemes will prove just as successful as this.”
New resident, Molly Clapham, who moved via the Council’s Sponsored Moves scheme, which offers cash incentives to tenants who downsize into smaller properties, said:
“I’m very happy in my new flat. It’s just the right size for me and I have everything just where I want it – and my daughter lives just up the road.
“I’ve settled in so well and never imagined it would feel like home so quickly.”
