Future of fashion to be showcased at new exhibition

Borough residents will soon have the chance to preview the talents of some of Britain’s budding fashion designers at Orleans House Gallery from 21 June.

The ‘Future of Fashion’ exhibition is a celebration of the exciting work coming out of British fashion colleges.

Work by selected students from across the country will be showcased, representing innovations in fashion, textile and accessory design, as well as fashion photography and illustration.

The exhibition explores a number of themes including innovation, creativity, diversity and tradition. It also looks at contemporary topics such as sustainability, new technology and the revival of craft traditions.

The show runs until 24 August. Admission is free.

Cllr Liz Jaeger, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said:

“British fashion graduates have influenced trends and created designs that are hugely popular internationally; John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, to name just a few.

“This exhibition will be a great insight into budding fashion talents and some of the designers, currently unknown, who could become tomorrow’s household names.”
