The day was coordinated by Richmond Council, Richmond Environment Network and Waitrose, and not only helped pupils learns more about the environment but also demonstrated the power of the sun to produce an alternative source of energy.

Participating schools included East Sheen Primary, Hampton Hill Juniors, Stanley Juniors, St Mary’s CE Primary, St Richard’s with St Andrew’s CE Primary and the Queens CE Primary.

Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for Environment on Richmond Council, said:

“Congratulations to the winning team and to all pupils selected to represent their schools. I hope they found this an exciting and fun way to learn about being environmentally-friendly.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything Richmond Council does and we are doing all we can to raise awareness of it in borough schools.”
