Release Date: 15/01/2008
As a major government inspection of Richmond Council’s adult care services gets underway, local people are being urged to share their views.
Throughout January the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) is investigating how well the Council ensures the safety of adults who are vulnerable to physical, emotional or financial abuse. Inspectors also want to know how well the Council provides choice, control and personalised services to its older residents.
They are inviting written comments, which will be treated in confidence, from service users themselves, or from friends, relatives or carers of someone in contact with the Council’s social care services.
Jeff Jerome, Director of Adult and Community Services at Richmond Council, said:
“The CSCI Inspectors will be investigating our procedures and interviewing staff, service users, carers and other local organisations to see if we are maintaining high standards.
“It is vital that they also hear from as many other people as possible and I urge local people to take this opportunity to have their say.”
Comments provided in writing will be treated in confidence and taken into account by the inspectors although they will not be able to enter into any correspondence.
To have your say, email your comments to june.ryan@csci.gsi.gov.uk or send them by post to CSCI, 9th Floor, Oakland House, Talbot Road, Manchester, M16 0PQ, by 28 January.
