Top art nomination for Council's Gallery Administrator

One of the Council’s talented Gallery Administrator’s has been shortlisted for the title of Creative Hero 2008 and the opportunity to scoop a £10,000 grant from Volvo.

A panel of leading figures selected from across music, art, fashion, advertising, design and film, and including Vivienne Westwood and Paul Smith, nominated Richmond Council’s Gallery Administrator amongst the 15 most promising creative talents in the UK.

Tim Head, who has been Gallery Administrator at the Council’s Art Service since 2006, has been able to work full time whilst developing his artistic career and is one of a number of successful artists employed by the Council.

Tim Head and his work will feature in a three-minute film to be released on the Yahoo! Video Channel.

Artist Tim Head, said:

“I am delighted to have been nominated by such a prestigious line-up of icons and grateful to my colleagues for their support. I never went to art school but I have been an artist since I was a kid – I started with drawing robots! I now work across various media ranging from illustration and photography to collage and papier-mâché”.

Cllr Liz Jaeger, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said:

“We are very proud of Tim for this exceptional nomination. His work and creativity never cease to impress us.

“Tim is a great employee and a very talented artist whose energy feeds back into the Art Service and who has been an inspiration for other up and coming local artists.”
