Crofters, a club for disabled children in the borough, has opened a second venue in Gostling Road, Whitton.
The specially adapted site is in addition to the facilities at the Croft Centre in Kew and will reduce travel for those living on the Whitton side of the borough.
Crofters, which is run by Richmond Council’s Services for Disabled Children, offers a range of weekly after-school clubs, a youth club, holiday play schemes and residential holidays for those who find it difficult to access other clubs in the borough.
It now has over one hundred members aged between four and 19 years old.
An open day was held on Thursday, 21 August, to allow service users and their families to see the new facilities and discuss potential new activities.
The site, which was previously home to the Wykeham Community Playgroup, was repaired and redecorated by members of the Youth Offending Team and the Richmond Housing Partnership.
Leader of Richmond Council, Cllr Serge Lourie, said
“Crofters is a superb club offering a whole range of activities and clubs for disabled children in the borough.
“The new facilities will be a real boost, helping to provide more opportunities, as well as offering those living in the formerly Middlesex side of the borough significantly reduced travel times.”
