A sensational line-up of sumptuous summer sounds is promised at this year’s On the Edge festival.
Now in its thirteenth year, the two day festival is hosted by the Council’s Arts Service and aims to showcase live music from across the globe on the banks of the Thames. Highlights include: boogie blues, North African percussion, Indian tabla, Jazz, funk, electronica, Klezmer and Gypsy.
The free event will take place on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August and will feature up and coming talent, such as the eclectic Forty Thieves Orkestar, well as established bands, including the African Atongo Zimba, winner of “African Album of the Year 2007”, and the legendary wild ska barnstormers Maroon Town.
This year’s programme is set to attract thousands of visitors, who will also be able to work on their dancing skills by attending free salsa classes run by the local salsa group Salsa Heaven.
