Release Date: 25/04/2008
A birthday party to celebrate 18 years of Kipper, the mischievous puppy star of best selling children’s books and TV show, is being held in Richmond Library, Little Green on Saturday 10 May, the day of the May Fair.
The event is being run by Richmond Council in partnership with the Lion and Unicorn Bookshop, as part of the National Year of Reading, a year-long initiative aimed at encouraging people of all ages to read more.
Party goers will be able to take part in games and other activities - there will be Kipper hats and ears to make, colouring-in, birthday balloons, stickers and posters for every child.
Kipper is the creation of the award-winning author, Mick Inkpen, whose books have sold millions worldwide.
In May, Hodder Children’s Books will relaunch six classic Kipper picture storybooks with contemporary new covers to tie in with Kipper’s 18th birthday.
Cllr John Coombs, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said:
“This party promises to be great fun and a fantastic day out for the family and we are delighted to be hosting it.
“It is just one of a variety of events taking place over the next few months in support of the National Year of Reading, which is now in full flow.”
Parents with children wishing to attend are asked to call 020 8940 0981 to book a place. Tickets are free.
The party starts at 2pm.
