Property of the month

Grove House, Hampton

Ground Floor reception room

Front of Grove House

Grove House in Hampton dates from the second half of the 17th century. Formally known as the Brick House, part of the property is now used as offices. It has 23 rooms all of which retain some original features. The grounds are entered through large wrought iron gates and a gravel drive. The ground floor has a magnificent entrance hall with a grand staircase. Large reception rooms lead out to the back garden. Another small staircase on the opposite side of the house leads down from the first floor, past the ground floor to the cellars. There are other rooms off this stairwell (which were probaby servants quarters). The most interesting room is the very ornate music room, built in the style of the Alhambra in Spain. This room has a greenhouse/conservatory attached to it which also leads out to the back garden.
