Pest Control

In residential premises

The council provides a free (contracted out) service for dealing with some pest problems such as rats and mice in residential premises in the borough. If you are on certain means tested benefits there is also a free service covering bed bugs and fleas.

The relevant means tested benefits are:

  • Income Support
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • Income based job seekers allowance
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Incapacity Benefit/Employment and Support Allowance

If you are not in receipt of these benefits you should contact a pest control company in Yellow Pages or your local Thompson Directory.

We also offer advice over the phone to residents about other pests. You can ring Pest Control on 0208 891 7800

In commercial premises

The Commercial Environmental Health Team are available to give advice to businesses on pest control issues. We also enforce legislation to ensure that land is kept free from rats, mice and other pests of public health significance, for example, cockroaches and pharaohs' ants. You can ring Commercial Environmental Health on 0208 891 7994
