One way cycling reminder

Cyclists in Twickenham have been reminded that Church Street is a one way street and they should not cycle from the St. Mary’ Church end towards Water Lane end; there are ‘No Entry’ signs and these apply to both cyclists and motor vehicles.

Cyclists going in the opposite direction are breaking the law and could be stopped by police.

Cllr Chris Harrison, Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Street Scene, said: “I’d ask all road users to take care, but cyclists do need to obey the law as much as everyone else. The road is relatively narrow with several small entrances and it would be unfortunate if someone was hurt because they weren’t expecting a cyclist to be going down the street in the wrong direction.”
