Mayor's lunch to welcome new Deputy Lieutenant

Mayor welcomes new Deputy Lieutenant

The new Deputy Lieutenant for Richmond upon Thames, Sir Ken Knight, was welcomed to the borough during lunch at York House today (9 May).

It was hosted by the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Cllr Marc Cranfield-Adams, who was joined by the Ambassador of Chile, Rafael Moreno; the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Helen Lee-Parsons; and Chief Executive, Gillian Norton.

Sir Ken is the Government’s Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, advising ministers and senior officials, and was appointed as the borough’s Deputy Lieutenant in January.

The Mayor said:

“I was delighted to welcome Sir Ken to York House. On behalf of the borough I hope that we can continue our excellent working relationship with the office of the Deputy Lieutenant.

“His predecessor, the late Nigel Clarke, was a wonderful man and a superb ambassador for Richmond upon Thames.

“Sir Ken brings to the role the skills and responsibility he has displayed during a distinguished career dedicated to the Fire Service, during which he has been awarded the Queens’ Fire Service Medal, the CBE, the Order of St John, and a knighthood.”
