Household waste collection

We collect household waste (rubbish) from every household in the Borough.

To keep landfill to a minimum and to keep a clean and green environment, we encourage you to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.

Bulky item disposal

As a Borough resident, you may have bulky items of waste or furniture to dispose of.

You can:

• Dispose of this yourself at the local civic amenity site at Townmead Road,
• Use a private waste collection contractor,
• Arrange a bulky waste collection.

What we will do for you

We will collect rubbish from every house once a week.

• We will collect waste on the same day every week apart from Bank Holidays.
• We will inform you if there are changes to your weekly collection.
• We will ensure that our web pages are up to date with current information and you can check your collection day online.
• We will return bins inside gate/boundary and replace the lids.
• We will monitor and check that our contractor collects waste to these standards.
• We will make sure all missed collections are collected within 24 hours following us being informed.
• We will ensure that if you contact us we will respond to you within our Council’s customer service standards.

What we would ask of you

• Please try to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.
• Please ensure you present your waste for collection in securely tied sacks or contained in a bin with a lid so that it is protected from scavenging animals and from causing litter. Placing a lid on your bin also prevents the bin from becoming waterlogged and people placing litter into it.
• Please put your waste out by 6am and leave it within your front garden.
• Please do not put your waste out for collection on a public footway or road if you have a front garden.
• Please wrap broken glass in a bag or box and label it so injury is not caused to collection staff.

• Please contact us if you would like us to dispose of clinical waste, bulky items or a fridge/freezer or garden waste.
