Street lighting
The Highway Management Group is responsible for the street lighting, illuminated road signs and bollards on the public highway (excluding the Trunk Roads A316 and A205). This responsibility includes the inspection of the lighting, maintenance and design of new lighting schemes. Inspections take place on a weekly basis and are carried out during the hours of darkness.
Where a street light, sign or bollard is reported as not working the Street Lighting section, through its contractor, aim to repair the item within 7 days. There may be instances, however, where this is not possible due to the problem being of a more complex nature. If the fault lies with the supply from the Regional Electricity Board then delays can last up to eight weeks.
To report a street light or illuminated sign/bollard not working please use the Street Scene fault reporting form or telephone the Highway Management Group on 0845 612 2660.
