Resident parking permits

A resident parking permit allows you to park in a residents permit bay.

Three steps to buying a new parking permit

1) Check your eligibility

  • Your property must be within a Controlled Parking Zone
  • Your property is your 'usual place of abode', i.e. you must normally spend at least four days each week living and sleeping at the premises. Having an office, shop or hotel in the zone does not entitle you to resident visitor parking
  • Your property is not eligible, or has restrictions on the amount of permits allowed under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). View a list of properties not allowed parking permits.

2) Apply

  • You can .
  • You can also apply by post: Apply for a new permit(pdf, 35KB)
  • Payment is taken at time of application.
  • Proofs will be required that you are a resident, and own or are authorised to drive the vehicle the permit is for
  • Resident parking permits are available for durations of 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
  • Permits for the Twickenham Event Zone (R) are only available for 1 year.
  • If the permit is for a Band A vehicle that was registered on or after 1 March 2011 and has CO2 emissions of 100g/km or less, you’ll be asked to supply the appropriate document to claim your free parking permit
  • Only send in copies as these will not be returned, they will be securely destroyed

3) Receiving your permit

  • You will receive your resident permit within 14 days of submitting your completed application
  • Whilst we’re processing your online application, a temporary permit will be applied electronically to your vehicle, to allow us time to get the permit to you. The Enforcement officers’ handsets will be updated, so you don’t need to put anything in your vehicle.
  • If you have applied by post there is no temporary permit cover applied to your vehicle.
  • If you have applied with a renewal letter you can legally park your vehicle for 14 days after your permit expires.
