Penalty Charge Notice contravention codes

As shown on our Parking fines page your penalty charge notice was issued for a specific reason and this is shown on the notice by a code and a description.

Some contraventions also include a suffix which provides further information, such as 05P (the P stands for Pay and Display).

From 1st July 2007 penalty charges are classified as 'more serious' or 'less serious', with corresponding higher or lower fines than previously.
