Residential suspensions and dispensations

When can I get a suspension or dispensation?

You can apply for a suspension or dispensation if you are moving home, holding a wedding or funeral. If you are having major works done on your property (e.g. glazing, building work etc.) please see our page on Commercial Suspensions and dispensations.

How much will it cost?

Suspensions and dispensations are free to residents when in connection with moving home, holding a wedding or funeral.  If you need more than 3 parking bays for 1 day then there will be a charge.

When should I apply?

A suspension must be applied for at least 7 working days before the date of suspension to allow for signs to be erected next to the bays, and to give other residents sufficient warning so that they can arrange to park elsewhere.

A dispensation must be applied for at least 3 working days before the date it is required to allow for the dispensation details to be provided to the parking enforcement contractor.

How to I apply?

You can apply for a suspension by contacting The Parking Shop, details on the Parking contact details page. Please remember to include your contact details such as your telephone and fax numbers when applying.

Dispensations are awarded on a case-by-case basis and you should discuss your requirements with staff at The Parking Shop, details on the Parking contact details page.

If you are awarded a dispensation, you will be required to display a notice signed by you and stamped by the Council's contractor to prove validity.
