East Sheen CPZ consultation

Background and introduction

In May/June 2007, the Council carried out a consultation with residents and businesses of the East Sheen Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), zone ES as part of a review of this CPZ.

The consultation was in two parts:

  • A consultation with residents and businesses of the existing East Sheen CPZ seeking views on how the CPZ operates and whether or not the hours of operation should be reduced to two hours, operating either between 11am and 1pm or between 1pm and 3pm, Monday to Friday.
  • A consultation with residents and businesses situated in a number of roads outside the existing East Sheen CPZ (immediately to the west and south), on whether they would wish to join the CPZ.

The consultation showed support for a reduction in the hours of control of the existing CPZ and support for an extension to the CPZ immediately to the west of the existing CPZ (the Elm Road area). The results were presented to the Transport Consultative Group (TCG) on 10 July 2007. Following this meeting the cabinet member approved the formal advertisement of proposals for an extension to the CPZ. The Cabinet Member also approved the introduction of reduced hours of operation of the existing CPZ from 10am to 4.30pm to 11am to 1pm, Monday to Friday on an experimental basis. However, upon receipt of further comments on the reduction of the hours of control, the cabinet member requested that officers re-consult residents and businesses of the existing zone to provide them with an opportunity to reconsider their views.

The Council has now commenced this, final consultation, in the East Sheen area.
