RISE activities for young people

RISE provides a varied programme of activities for disabled people of all ages.

RISE Multi Sports Club

The Saturday Multi-Sports Club is a weekly programme of inclusive sports and activities for those aged 11 to 25 years.

  • Dates: Saturdays 22 April - 15 July (not 3 June)
  • Time: 10.30 to 11.30am

  • Session cost: £5.40 / £4.70 with a Richmond Card

Football

A weekly inclusive football club for children (over 5 years), young people and adults.

  • Dates: Saturdays 22 April - 20 May
  • Time: 11.30am to 1pm

  • Session cost: £5.50 / £5 with a Richmond Card

Fusion Junior Dance

These weekly, fun and lively dance classes are led by Tom from Combination Dance Company and are ideal for developing gross motor skills, flexibility, self expression and confidence.

Age 5 to 9

  • Dates: Saturdays 22 April - 8 July (not 3 June, 10 June)
  • Time: 11.30am to 12.15pm
  • Venue: Teddington Sports Centre, Teddington School, Broom Road, Teddington
  • Course cost: £27

Younger children need the assistance and support of an adult, parent or carer to get the most out of the class and exercises are planned with this in mind. Parents/carers are asked to wear comfortable clothes to move in. We do have a couple of RISE buddies available to work within this group so if parents/carers are unable to take part in the exercises then please do let us know.

Age 10 to 16

  • Dates: Saturdays 22 April - 8 July (not 3 June, 10 June)
  • Time: 12.15 to 1pm
  • Venue: Teddington Sports Centre, Teddington School, Broom Road, Teddington
  • Course cost: £27

Parents/carers are welcome to stay and watch.

Canoeing

Two canoeing courses for young people (14+ yrs) and adults. Participants need to be able to swim and be confident in water.

  • Dates: Fridays 21 April - 21 July (not 2 June)
  • Time: 4.30 to 6.30pm
  • Venue: Lensbury Watersports Centre, Broom Road, Teddington, TW11 9QH
  • Course cost: £75 (21 April - 26 May) and £87.50 (9 June - 21 July), parents/carers go free

Golf

Golf is available at Hampton Court Palace Golf Club. Johnny Powell, Golf Pro at Hampton Court Palace is offering RISE participants the following promotions:

  • Group coaching: 2-4 people £7.50 each per hour.
  • Individual lesson: 4 x 30 min lessons for £20.

PAs/carers/parents are welcome too and there is no charge.

  • Times and dates: these offers can be booked on Sundays at 1pm or Wednesday at 2pm. Johnny may be able to offer these promotions at other times but please contact him directly.

RISE Rugby

In association with Harlequins Foundation. For young people aged 14 to 18.

Swimming

Weekly swimming club on Tuesday at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre for young people aged 8 to 18 years who can swim at least a length of the pool.

  • Time: 6 to 6.45pm

This is part of our RISE to Shine project.

Tennis

Weekly indoor tennis sessions for young people and adults aged 14 and over.

Trampolining

Weekly trampolining sessions for people with additional needs and disabilities. Sessions are for people of all ages.

Wheelchair basketball

With local basketball club, Richmond Knights. For children aged 10+ yrs. All equipment provided.

  • Dates: Thursdays
  • Time: 6.30 to 7.30pm
  • Venue: Waldegrave School, Fifth Cross Road, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW2 5LH
  • Course cost: TBA

RISE to Shine

RISE to Shine is a project to get young people who live or go to school in the borough, involved in the London Youth Games.

Every year over 50,000 young people from the 33 London boroughs compete against each other in over 30 different sports.

There are disability sports included in the competition and we are looking for athletes to compete for Team Richmond.
