Neighbour nuisance

This page has information on issues such as:

The Neighbour Nuisance Officer will give you advice on dealing with these problems and may ask you to keep diaries recording the problem. Investigations may be carried out until the Neighbour Nuisance Officer is satisfied that there is, or there is not, a serious problem. Depending on the results of these investigations, the Neighbour Nuisance Officer may serve a legal notice, try to sort out the problem informally or suggest mediation in certain circumstances.

Weekend Noise Service

We also provide a Weekend Noise Service and have some tips to consider if you are having a party.

Commercial noise

Commercial noise is handled by the Commercial Environmental Health Team.

Statutory nuisance

If there is a statutory nuisance and informal action is not appropriate or successful, we will serve a statutory notice requiring that the nuisance stops within a given time period. If the nuisance does not stop, prosecution proceedings may begin or we may carry out the work and charge the owner for this service.

For more information about what is a statutory nuisance, please see this page.
