Operation Lockout
The Community Safety Partnership is combating acquisitive crime by adopting and promoting a forensic property-marking scheme.
SelectaDNA is an evolution of the ultra-violet postcode method of marking household valuables. Using a manufactured DNA-coded fluid and etched microdots in kit form, property can quickly be marked, and subsequently identified. Add to this a high profile publicity campaign and the end result is ‘target hardened’ residential properties across Richmond upon Thames - making our residents a less attractive target for burglary and theft.
The kits are being made available to residents who have been burglary victims through a structured programme. The funding for this entire project is being made available through the Community Safety Partnership and not local community charges.
