Alcohol is often seen to play an important part in our society and the majority of people do drink sensibly. However, alcohol misuse is associated with health and social problems for individuals, families, communities and members of the public.

Richmond Young People's Drug and Alcohol Support is a team of experienced professionals from all different backgrounds and training consisting of: drugs workers, youth workers, outreach workers, counsellors and psychotherapists.

Richmond upon Thames carries the lowest violent crime rate in London, although at the same time having one of the highest levels of binge drinking in the Capital.

Borough Alcohol Strategy 2009-11

In 2008 a Health Overview and Scrutiny (O&S) Task Group investigated alcohol issues in the Borough and made recommendations to Cabinet. These recommendations form the basis of this Strategy and the Action Plan. The Strategy has been be developed by a multi agency steering group.
