Primary Schools Netball Festival
Friday 11 November 2011
Pupils from 28 boroughs primary schools took part in the Hi-5 Netball festival on Friday 11 November, organised by Richmond Council's Sports Development Team.
The festival ran as part of the borough’s Competitive Edge Scheme, aimed at encouraging young people to take part and develop an interest in competitive sport. It was held at Old Deer Park in Richmond, with the support of qualified umpires.
Schools were organised into six groups for the morning session, before being placed in either the cup or plate competitions for the afternoon session.
The top 12 schools qualified for the cup competition. The semi finals saw Collis versus Stanley and St Marys and St Peters versus Chase Bridge. In the final Collis played St Marys and St Peters, a very close game with all the players showing great netball skills saw Collis come through as Cup winners.
The afternoon draw saw the remainder of schools excel in the plate competition. In the two semi final games St Marys played last years winners Archdeacon and Meadlands took on Barnes. All the players showed off their skills and the final was between Meadlands and Archdeacon. Meadlands played a great game and saw victory in the final.
Congratulations to everyone who took part.
