Lord Mayor's Mile 2009

London Marathon Director and running enthusiast Nick Anstee was sworn in as the new Lord Mayor on Saturday 14 November 2009. As part of the Lord Mayor's parade he had an idea for children from across London to compete in a new one mile running race.

All 32 London boroughs and the City of London were invited to attend. A strong squad of twelve athletes aged 11-17 years represented the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames at the event.  

The race was a one mile loop around the Lord Mayor of London’s procession route starting and finishing at Mansion House.

Molly Riglin won the girls 13- 14 years category with a winning time of 5.26. Ross Franks came third in the boys 15 – 17 years in 4.24, Luke Penney finished in ninth in the boys 13 -1 4 years and Jamie Finnigan finished eighth in the 11 – 12 years category.

Ella Widdop- Gray, Kirsty Maxwell, Amelie Hunton, Florence Taylor, Georgia Minasarow,  Rory Atkins, Cory Mears and Amish Patel all put in fantastic performances for Richmond.
